From time to time, we welcome a guest blogger to Key Tov Blog. Today's blogpost is from my ten year old daughter, enjoy!
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church. (Ephesians 5:25-29, NKJV)
When my Mom was reading today's bible study, I remembered when I camped at Matanuska Glacier in Alaska. My Dad started a fire and he gave the fire some dry wood, well that didn't last long! So my Dad went to go find some moist wood, that lasted longer than the dry wood.
So as it got late, it got colder. My Dad found some rocks and put them behind the fire to reflect the heat. That warmed us up really quick.
You see, it's almost the same in marriage. If you give your spouse things just to make them happy (like the dry wood) your marriage won't last that long. But if you give your spouse things because you really love them, then that's like the moist wood. It lasts a whole lot longer if you do it because you love them.
Just do it for the next generation, do it for the world, do it for GOD!
And when my Dad put stones behind the fire to reflect heat, thats the love. The "left overs" for your offspring and friends, family, mom, dad, and other couples to understand, "Wow, that's a great marriage we should ASK THEM for tips on how their successful!" Always keep that fire burning! And only let people that will give moist wood to your fire into your life!
Respectfully, Mikea Faith Fulton
