Light!

Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. (Psalm 119:105, NLT)

If you've followed our blog for very long, you know we have a love for God's living Word. (Hebrews 4:12) And a love for reading! There are many great authors who expound on God's word and offer advice on how to practically apply the bible, teaching us how to live the abundant life!

It has been on my heart to share with you six books that have changed my life.  They are listed below. I have read, re-read, and re-read these books. God has used these authors and these books to change my life from daily defeat to daily victory!

  • Breaking the Cycle of Offense, Dr. Larry Ollison
  • Battlefield of the Mind, Joyce Meyer
  • God's Opinion of You, Dr. Terry Mize
  • The Five Love Languages, Gary Chapman
  • Who Switched Off My Brain, Dr. Carolyn Leaf
  • Prayers that Avail Much, Germaine Copland

We highly suggest these books for living victoriously! Most of the books in this list may be found at www.faithman.org and clicking the Lighthouse Bookstore tab. If you have any questions, about any of these books or authors please feel free to contact us at any time in the comments below or by emailing us at keytovblog@gmail.com.

Happy reading and happy living! Light be, in the name of Jesus!

Light it Up

Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.” (John 8:12, NLT)

Light has taken on new meaning for me lately. We are a homeschooling family and we've been studying cells this school year. We took the plunge, did our research, and purchased a "king daddy" microscope!

I have to tell you…it ROCKS! We've played with it everyday. We study "prepared slides" and next week, we start making our very own slides! We've studied kosher salt, q-tips, dog hair (Hey, my dog is very clean.), household dust (no comment), human hair, dead bugs, and yesterday I asked for my oldest daughter's pillow…but alas…she refused. I won't go into detail…personal family joke.

What is so amazing about a microscope? I am so-so glad you asked! The precision is amazing. We can view specimen at a magnification level up to a thousand or we can decrease it down to forty. And the light on the microscope is so bright that when it is shining on a specimen, every intricate detail of the specimen is illuminated. The light on the microscope is, at times, so bright, we have to turn it down in order for our eyes to tolerate the light.

Yesterday as we were viewing specimens, I better understood how God's light reveals the intricate details of my heart. In His light, nothing is hidden anymore. It "all comes to light" and change comes when God shows me what needs to be corrected…even in the very intricate details of my heart. He knows precisely how much light to shine, precisely where to shine light and precisely when to shine light. (2 Peter 3:9 and again I say, 2 Peter 3:9)

The Lord isn't really being slow about His promise, as some people think.
No, He is being patient for your sake.
He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent. (2 Peter 3:9)

Most loving and gracious Heavenly Father, thank you-thank you for always being faithful to me all the days of my life. Thank You for life giving Light! Thank You for showing me and teaching me not to conform to the patterns of this world but to renew my mind daily. Thank You for Your marvelous Light and for showing me the areas in my heart to correct and thank You for Your perfect timing. You truly are so good! Father, I pray for every reader right now and I thank You for completing your good work in them, in the name of Jesus!

Psalm 89:1
Romans 12:2
Ecclesiastes 3:11
1 Peter 2:9
Psalm 100:5
Philippians 1:6

Psssst, hey...homeschooling moms! If you need help buying a microscope, I highly suggest Home Science Tools. I placed their link below for your convenience. They helped me decide which microscope was best for us as well as the accessories we needed without pushing me to buy more than what we required. Great product, great customer service!

That's Heavy

For My yoke is easy and My burden is light. (Matthew 11:30, NKJV)

Today, I was in the kitchen and Mikea was standing near the trashcan talking to me. As I was cleaning, I picked up some things that needed to be thrown away. I threw them to Mikea for her to place in the trashcan.

She braced herself because she thought I was throwing something heavy. But once she caught the items, she smiled really big and said, "Oh…that's not heavy at all."

I believe that is exactly why some people tend to steer away from Jesus. Wrong thinking, bad teaching, and/or negative prior experience, may leave them thinking following Jesus is just too "heavy".

But once we experience Jesus, truly experience Him, we all learn…He really IS easy and light because in Him we live, move, and have our being! (Acts 17:28) He carries us! (Psalm 68:19) Folks, it's time to smile really big, let Jesus carry you, experience how easy and light He truly is!

Father, in the name of Jesus, I pray against anything and everything that has ever risen up against every reader today. I thank You in advance for revealing Yourself to them. I thank You for showing them, you are so easy and light. Thank You for carrying us! Thank You for your redemptive work on the cross so that we can live life in excessive abundance! We receive it all by faith right now, in the name of Jesus!

If you've never received Jesus into your heart, or if you've prayed this prayer before but didn't really commit to Him, you can pray this simple prayer and start eternal life right now!

Father, in the name of Your Son Jesus, I believe in my heart and confess with my mouth that You are God. I believe Jesus is Your Son, I believe He died for me, and on the third day, I believe You raised Him from the dead. I will never deny Him. I will never deny You. Thank You for calling me out of darkness, into Your marvelous light!

Please find a bible based church, read your bible, and renew your mind daily. If you need help, please contact us in the comments below or email us at keytovblog@gmail.com. Welcome to our family!

No Trespassing!

Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you. (Luke 10:19, NLT)

Sunday was our youngest daughter's birthday. To celebrate, we went to the Probowl game in Honolulu with friends. On our way to the game, we had to drop our dog off at our store. For some strange reason, doggie seats were not available at Probowl. Otherwise, I'm sure Bo would have thoroughly enjoyed himself as much as we did!

When we drove up in the parking lot of our store to drop Bo off, individuals had "set up shop" in our back door and was doing business. Literally, complete with bed, full length mirror, etc.

I have never seen Mike get real forceful (verbally or otherwise). He is a very quiet, gentle, compassionate man; however, he is a Texan to his core and has very deep ideas of what is right or wrong. He drove right up to the "hooch" (that was a new word for me) and put the car in park. He ripped the tarp back and...well, lets just say everyone on the block knew he was not playing around when he said, "Get out!"  He turned to me and said, "Call the police." At which time, people started to scatter.

There was one person who, lets see...how do I describe this...stalled in leaving. I'm sure street drugs were preventing this person from using common sense.

The police arrived very quickly. (Mucho mahalos to the Honolulu Police Department!) Once the police cars arrived, there were no trespassers to be found in any direction. The police quickly took our report and searched for the people to insure there was no misunderstanding they were to never trespass on our property again. We were told we could dispose of all their property (approximately a small truck load). We assumed we would have to clean up the nasty mess but we decided to clean up later because we didn't want to be late to the game.

We made it to the Probowl just in time for kickoff. Once the game was over, we went back to the store to get Bo. Obviously, the officers handling the case was very convincing because all the items had been removed and the area was totally spotless! Not even a piece of trash remained.

Here is what I learned: When we walk in our God given authority, darkness scatters.

Here is the analogy:

Mike knows he is the store owner.
We must know who we are in Christ! (Luke 10:19)

Mike knew he had the authority to remove the trespassers.
When darkness (strife/offense/envy/depression/murmering) attempts to trespass, we must use our authority and remove it! (Mark 11:23)

He boldly took the necessary steps to protect his store.
We must boldly approach God and seek His Word on how to take the necessary steps to protect our mind/mouth/home/relationships and Facebook pages! (Ephesians 3:12)

When one trespasser stalled, the HPD removed them.
When we submit to God and resist the devil, he has no other option, he must flee! God rebukes the devourer for us! (James 4:7, Malachi 3:11)

My youngest daughter got upset when she saw the homeless man taking down his bed and tarp and said, "But Mommy, if CPR is a house to that homeless man, now he has nowhere to live!" We prayed for the trespassers and I explained, we tried to work out a deal with the man. He was to keep our parking lot clean of trash and debris and he was allowed to stay. But he continues to occupy more space. And the more we looked the other way. Initially, he only had one small corner in our parking lot. But left unchecked, he had his belongings strewn halfway across our parking lot and ended up completely blocking the door.

Darkness operates the same way; for example, when strife attempts to rear it's ugly head, we can't look the other way. A "deal" can never be cut with darkness. If not addressed immediately, darkness continues to occupy more and more space until we adversely affect everyone we come into contact with.

  • We must take every thought captive and refuse to sow discord! (2 Corinthians 10:5, Proverbs 6:16-19)
  • We must shine our lights before man so our Heavenly Father is glorified! (Matthew 5:16)
  • We must speak peace and life into every situation! (Romans 12:18, Deuteronomy 30:19)

When we pray, walk in authority and purpose to speak God's Word about every situation, darkness doesn't block the door, we block the door to darkness and protect what God has so richly blessed us with!

Perspective

My favorite all time song is, Heaven on Earth, performed by Micah Stampley in Nigeria. The guitar player in this You Tube video shows exactly how I feel when I hear this song, enjoy!

http://youtu.be/jbfTNqMc328

Certain aspects of that song strike a very deep chord with me.
In particular:

Heaven is calling for you to come higher!
To see everything from a new point of view!
To be seated with Jesus in Heavenly places!
From His perspective everything is made new!

In order to see things from His perspective, we must know what His perspective is.

For He raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus. (Ephesians 2:6, NLT)

For, "Who can know the LORD's thoughts? Who knows enough to teach him?" But we understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ. (1 Corinthians 2:16, NLT)

Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. (Luke 10:19, NKJV)

Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know. (Jeremiah 33:3, NKJV)

He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; The Lord shall hold them in derision. (Psalms 2:4, NLT)

When I speak according to the Word and will of God, heaven responds. (Mark 11:23-24, NLT)

I have been justified by faith, and I have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. (Romans 5:1, NLT)

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. (2 Corinthians 5:17, NKJV)

But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God's very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for He called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light. (1 Peter 2:9, NLT)

Sky and earth will wear out; my words won't wear out. (Mark 13:31, The Message)

How about you?
Are you operating according to your perspective?
Or are you operating according to God's perspective?

Key Tov, What's in a Name?

indeed it came to pass, when the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the Lord, and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and praised the Lord, saying: “ For He is good, For His mercy endures forever,” that the house, the house of the Lord, was filled with a cloud, so that the priests could not continue ministering because of the cloud; for the glory of the Lord filled the house of God. (2 Chronicles 5:13-14, NLT)

While living in Missouri, sitting under the teaching of Dr. Larry Ollison, he taught us many lessons on the Hebrew Language. One of which being, our language uses the alphabet and the Hebrew language uses the Aleph Bet. In order for us to easily say English words from the Hebrew language, we spell the words phonetically because there is not a letter to letter translation.

Dr. Ollison started many church services by all of us in unison shouting, "Halelujah! Key Tov! Key Le Alam Has Doe!" Translated, "Praise the Lord! He is good! His mercy endures forever!" And the glory of the Lord filled Walk on Water Faith Church!

We are often asked about Key Tov. We named our blog Key Tov as a constant reminder that He is good. (Psalm 136:1)
He is always good. (John 10:10)
He never changes. (Malachi 3:6)

On this, our one year anniversary, we are continually reminded of God's amazing goodness. This past year has been a phenomenal journey of introspection, growth, and encouragement, as I pour my heart out through this avenue God has blessed me with and quite literally placed in my path.

This past year, you have honored me by allowing me to pray with you, face battles with you, and walk out this good fight of faith together!

There have been times I’ve written with so much joy I could hardly contain it! There have been times I’ve wanted to quit, believing I was revealing too much of my heart. There have been times of attack and I’ve had to seek God’s face to fulfill the true heart of Key Tov blog which is to always bring glory to God.

Being an extremely private person, sharing the deepest part of my heart with you has been a huge struggle for me. But God directed me to do it. As I fought against some, I had to continue to do what God told me to do, and as a result the fruit continues to flourish. Thank you all for your emails of support and encouragement of how Key Tov blog has helped you!

Once you shed God’s life giving light, He empowers you to live life in excessive abundance! (John 10:10, AMP)
